11/29-12/5 Song of the Week

21 Guns by Green Day

Do you know what's worth fighting for

When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take you breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weight out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Does someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and i

When you're at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn't pass
Nothing's ever built to last
You're in ruins

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and i

Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire?
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone

When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You're in ruins

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms

Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I

I hope you all like the song, I love this song because Billy is basically telling you to pick your battles and I think that's what we should all do, pick the battles that mean the most. Don't get into an argument about who drank the last soda, it's not worth it. Pick your battles.

Family Is Supposed To Come First

When we think of family, we have a very biased opinion on our family and we mostly decide by our mood at the time. If we're depressed then they are probably the worst family in the world, but sitting with them and laughing about old times or something stupid someone just said, they are then an amazing family.

I do that a lot. Whenever my mood changes they change, if I'm angry towards them, then it feels that they're all ganging up on me.

We change our outlook on our family so quickly because we know what we're thinking is wrong, and they're the closest thing we have. It's so easy for us to yell at a friend or family member because we're comfortable enough to be that way infront of someone. So, to us, they change in our minds because we're comfortable enough to do that to them. You wouldn't do this with a stranger beacuse 1) you don't know them and 2) you're not comfortable enough to do that with them. We see comfort in doing that because sometimes, not everyone!, we are too self-concious as to what people think about us. "What if they hate me for yelling at them?" "What if I lose them because I start crying infront of them because theyh insulted me?" "What if..." "What if..." "What if..." I think that we chose our family because if we have that brief moment of anger towards then or resentment towards them, they will always be there.

So, next time you chose to stay in state for college for a boyfriend/girlfriend or go off with your friends to hang out or go for a walk by yourself, remember who will be waiting at home for you. Not your girlfriend/boyfriend, not your friends, not your teacher. Your family. When you walk in the door and see the people sitting on the couch or in the bedrooms or in the kitchen, those are not your friends, that is your family.

I'm not saying that you can't get angry at your family or cry over them. Don't. Take. Them. For. Granted. That's all. Your friends or boyfriend/girlfriend will not be at that dinner table every night. Just remember that. They may not be the most awesome people in the world but they were there for you the minute you were born. Not your friends.

Don't Know What To Do??? Same Here.

Hope is key to being sucessful.

For instance, I want to get out of Indiana and go on to Columbia or NYU once I'm done with high school. But, right now I don't have straight As, I have all As except for a D- (my Algebra teacher is way to F happy, she shows you what could happen to your grade if you don't study, then once you get your true grade, she puts it in) and a B (which is in English, I forgot to turn in an assignment last semester).

But, I do know that I will do EVERYTHING possible to try and get into one of those schools, I'm making it seem like those are my only two choices and if I don't get in one of those two schools than that ends my WHOLE career in English literature.

So, if being hopeful and going to a certain state of mind (that's safe), it can help you get to where you want to be. Think about what would happen if you didn't get into the college you wanted or got the job you wanted or the internship and so on and so on. Would your life be worse or better? Would you regret it the rest of your life? If you think that you can't get something, that's not true! The more you try and work for what you want and ask for help and do everything possible to get there, you can get there. Don't let one person keep you down or tell you you "might" not make it because you can, it just depends on if you want it as much as you say and think you do. I wanted to be a journalist but after being in the beginning journalism class at my school, I'm not sure if I'm cut out for it. I want to be a writer and I want to make that my living and if that means I will only be making around $20,000 a year, in the end it will be worth it. I would have gone to Columbia or NYU for four years to recieve a degree in English Literature or English (general) and write the stories I've loved since I was little. (Which was vampire, werewolves, and other immortal creatures.)

Hope is not a limited saying and it doesn't only apply to those who are only sucessful. I hate when people don't htink it applies to them. And, people do believe in you, trust me. When I told my AVID teacher I wanted to go into journalism or writing in college infront of the WHOLE class, everyone kept saying "she is a great writer", "write a book about me!", "you'll be great!". My friends told me I was good, but I never heard it from someone I barely ever talk to and hear are these are kids saying how good I was. People will believe in you, you just have to put in an effort. I think more people give up because they don't know what to do or how to go on, but I think if someone in their life gives them a little more support in what they want to go into, they would work harder. So, find that person to support you and you will see hope in yourself and keep going.

Here's a quote I wrote down and put on my wall in case I want to give up sometimes:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond imagination. It is our light more than our darkness which scares us. We ask ourselves - who are we to be brilliant, beautiful, talented, and fabulous. But honestly, who are you to not be so?

Here's a song that I love to death, it's by Red  Jumpsuit of Apparatus, it's called Seventeen Ain't So Sweet. It's about a girl who should be listened to and believe in. Hope you all love it. (You can here it playing now if you haven't paused it.) This is the Song of the Week:

Well she never was the best,
Yeah at following the trends.
Stayed one step above the rest,
And even though it seemed,
Like the world was crashing on her,
Didn't let it hold her down,
Didn't hold her back,

Oh no, woah.

Don't worry you'll show them,
There's a fire in your eyes,
And I hope you'll let it burn.
There's a scream in your voice,
And I hope you will be heard.
There's a fire in your eyes,
And I hope you'll let it burn until you're heard,
You're heard.

Seventeen is just a test,
Yeah and I would recommend,
That you live with no regrets,
And even if it seems,
Like the world is crashing on you,
You shouldn't let it hold you down,
Shouldn't hold you back,

Oh no, woah.

Don't worry you'll show them,
There's a fire in your eyes,
And I hope you'll let it burn.
There's a scream in your voice,
And I hope you will be heard.
There's a fire in your eyes,
And I hope you'll let it burn until you're heard,
You're heard.

Relax girl,
Turn down the lights,
No one can see you shining.
Relax girl,
It'll be alright,
No one can stop you if you try.
Point of rhythm is the fall await in time,
To listen to the beating in your mind,
And if you will seek then you shall find,

Woah.

There's a fire in your eyes,
And I hope you'll let it burn.
There's a scream in your voice,
And I hope you will be heard.
There's a fire in your eyes,
And I hope you'll let it burn until you're heard,
You're heard

There's a fire in your eyes,
And I hope you'll let it burn.
There's a scream in your voice,
And I hope you will be heard.
There's a fire in your eyes,
And I hope you'll let it burn until you're heard,
You're heard.

Hope you all like the song and send in your problems and I'll try to give you all some adivce!!! ^_^
